Our story

Skiing in the mountains has been a very important part of Si's life. Growing up with French friends, his family trips were about making the most of their time on the snow. Lunch was a sandwich in a cable car and a bar of chocolate so they could enjoy the quieter slopes during school holidays. This meant that dinner had to be substantial and was always a communal affair. Raclette and Fondue were a staple part of their alpine diet.

Si and his brother, Pete, talked about setting up a street food stall for years. They knew it was something they wanted to do, but finding their speciality was a challenge.

It was during a trip to Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre, Paris that Si came across a small street food stall, and sampled an amazing Raclette baguette, that he realised it was an amazing way to bring the mountain food they'd always loved to the UK.

They purchased their first Raclette machine, and started up at Hereford market on a Wednesday with a small gazebo. It wasn't long before they felt ready to expand into food festivals and bigger markets. After TMCC had been established for a couple of years, Pete and his wife, who is Dutch, made the decision to raise their family in the Netherlands. Pete moved to Amsterdam and set up The Melting Shack. Si continued with TMCC in the UK.

Now you'll find him, and his team, at many family-friendly festivals across the UK, combining his love of Alpine food and festivals and sharing it with as many people as he can!
